Spanish Cheese

Compared to France, Switzerland, the Netherlands or Italy, Spain is rather unknown as a "cheese nation". Wrong, as Spanish cheese has a long cheese tradition that goes back to the earliest times.

Over 900 cheese factories in Spain produce around 120 different types of cheese in different flavors and aromas. Around 30 different types of cheese are protected and recognized by the EU. Similar to the Spanish cava and wine, they have the addition Denominación de Origen, D. O., just like i.e. the Spanish Manchego cheese with its origin in La Mancha.
